Contempt & Incarceration

Incarceration & Fingerprinting

  • Whenever a person is booked into a local jail, their fingerprints are automatically sent to an FBI database, which triggers review by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
  • Every set of fingerprints is run through an immigration database to assess whether the individual is someone ICE wants to deport.
  • Whether or not ICE targets an individual for deportation is based on a number of factors including the person’s immigration, criminal, and family court history.
